During investigations about pets, one of our wonderful Preps created her own book.
She typed the sentences on the computer and then printed them out.
Next she found pictures of pets in a magazine and stuck them in her book. She disocvered an amazing pet. Look at her last page to see.

In Little Ossies this week we have been looking at who helps us in an emergency. We had a practice of our school evacuation procedure last week and since then we have been looking at all sorts of different things which keep us safe.
To begin our week we decided that we wanted to change our hospital corner into a fire station, but we couldn’t have a fire station without a fire engine in it. So we got busy making.
We started to make a fire truck by turning a table upside-down and putting some big pieces of paper around it.
When the table had been surrounded in paper, we had to make it look more like a fire engine – so out came the red paint!
Our Fire Truck is well-used in the fire station now.
We brainstormed ideas of what else might be needed in a fire station, apart from a fire engine. We came up with lots of ideas, one being making sure there were ladders. So we got out materials to make ladders in teams.
We tried one lot of materials for a first go at making a ladder, but it wasn’t working very well.
So we kept trying with some different materials. These ones worked much better.
We also found that it was much easier to work as a team to make a ladder than if you worked on your own. Luckily we are all really good at being team members in Little Ossies!
During the week we also looked up the website (http://www.mfbkidzone.com.au/) to find out more information about fire fighters. We learnt a lot more about one piece of equipment which we have in all of our homes; a smoke alarm. Some Little Ossies weren’t sure if they had a smoke alarm at their house, so they sent a special email to their Mums and Dads to ask them to look for the smoke alarm at their house that night. Some Little Ossies took photos and sent them back so we could see the different smoke alarms. (You may recognise some of them in the photos below!)
Some Little Ossies even tested out their smoke alarms at home! When did you last test your smoke alarm at your house?
