Producing the Produce

This last week in Little Ossies we have started to create some items for a supermarket in our classroom.

Some Little Ossies and their families have been collecting food packaging at home and we have started to sort it into different categories.  A few of the different categories we have thought we could have in our supermarket are ‘Treats”, “Fridge things”, “Freezer things” and “Meat”.

The class have discussed different items which you can purchase at a supermarket and have set about creating some of the items themselves.

To begin with we made some fruit and vegetables.

We scrunched, rolled, folded, fringed and cut paper, used masking tape and painted to create these fruit and vegetables. So far we have made apples, oranges, strawberries, blueberries, corn, potatoes, tomatoes and carrots.

Then we started to make items for the packaging which we had received from peoples homes.

We made pasta.

We made cheese.

We made eggs and triangle corn chips.

We made chocolates.

You had to do lots of cutting and scrunching to make lots of chocolates.

Next week we will continue to add more produce to our special supermarket and create signs for the shelves.

Can you think of anything else we might need for our own supermarket in Little Ossies?
